John
Vertigan will celebrate 50 years in the radio
industry on May 30, 2005.
He
started at 3GL Geelong in 1955 at the raw age
of 16.
John joined 3UZ in November 1963 and became a
member of the legendary disc jockey team.
Later he took on race co-ordination – a
facet of his career that remains to this day.
He was with 3UZ for 15 years the first time around,
then rejoined the station in 1988. This time now
totals 17 years, so, all up, John has been with
the 3UZ organization (now known as Sport 927)
for 32 years – a record for any employee.
John is father to four children, the youngest,
Jonathan following his dad in to the radio industry.
John is also the proud grandfather of 6.
He resides on the Mornington Peninsula and spends
non working hours fishing, walking his two dogs
and communicating on his computer with his new
lady love In Chicago!
