Brisbane Lions midfielders Travis Johnstone and Justin Sherman have been ruled out of Saturday night's AFL clash with Adelaide at the Gabba.

Johnstone has not recovered from a hamstring strain, while Sherman pulled out with a back complaint.

They have been replaced by Cheynee Stiller and Lachlan Henderson.

The seventh-placed Lions are desperate to bounce back from their last round hiding at the hands of the Western Bulldogs against the fifth-placed Crows.
